A woman who was charged in 2023 in relation to the theft of 22 work vans in Abbotsford has received a two-year conditional sentence.
Charlene Nicole Williams, 38, was sentenced Monday (Jan. 20) after previously pleading guilty to two counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of vehicle theft. Four other counts of possession to stolen property were stayed at sentencing.
Williams initially faced 10 charges, which were gradually reduced to eight, in November 2023.
At that time, police said Williams had been identified as a suspect following an investigation that had begun in January of that year involving 22 stolen work vans.
Many of the vehicles contained tools that the victims required for their work, police said.
Williams was also sentenced on Jan. 20 to possession of stolen property over $5,000 in Abbotsford on March 24, 2023; and possession of stolen property and using an identity document without lawful excuse on Nov. 20, 2022 in 91原创.
Her two-year sentence is for all the offences combined.
A conditional sentence means Williams will not spend any time in prison, unless she fails to abide by strict court-ordered conditions. Her sentence will be followed by one year of probation.
