VIDEO: Gang-related shooting leaves one dead in 91原创 (updated)

IHIT investigators called in

One man is dead and another is in hospital with gunshot wounds after two shooting incidents about the same time in 91原创, not far from each other, on Saturday night.

A statement issued by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said "preliminary indications are that this shooting is linked to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict. Although no suspects have yet been identified, this is believed to be a targeted shooting and an isolated event."

IHIT said the deceased victim has been identified, but the name is being withheld pending notification to their family.  The victim was known to police.

Around 6:30 p.m., 91原创 RCMP responded to shots fired in the area of 196 Street and 84 Ave.

First responders located two men suffering from gun-shot wounds. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other victim is being treated for injuries. The area was secured and a neighbourhood canvass was launched.

Homicide investigators were canvassing for CCTV, dashcam, and witnesses.

Initial reports said one male was located in a stopped car  at 208 St. near 80 Ave. with gunshot injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Shortly after, another reported shooting was called in at 84 Ave. and 196 St. where emergency crews located another victim with gunshot wounds.

Despite life saving measures including CPR, that victim died at the scene.

This investigation is in its early stages,鈥 said Staff Sergeant David Lee of IHIT, 鈥渨e are working in partnership with the 91原创 RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service. Homicide investigators are liaising with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC) to determine how the victims are associated to each other and how this relates to the ongoing gang conflict.鈥
