Newly married woman killed helping injured 91原创 couple

A 54-year-old West Kelowna woman got out of her vehicle to help when another vehicle slammed into the crash scene on the Coquihalla

A 54-year-old newlywed was killed while offering medical assistance to a 91原创 couple injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Coquihalla on Sunday.

Three vehicles, including a rig hauling lumber, collided 35 kilometres north of Hope. It was snowing at the time, said Fraser Valley Traffic Services.

Two occupants in a Toyota鈥攁 66-year-old female and 67-year-old man from 91原创 were both injured.

Two 40-year-old male occupants of the Ford from Kamloops and a 54-year-old West Kelowna woman, who was a passenger in the commercial vehicle, exited the vehicles and rendered medical assistance to the injured.

A 2008 Chevrolet, driven by a 62-year-old man from West Kelowna, drove through the collision scene and struck the Toyota, which eventually hit the woman from West Kelowna. The woman's 59-year-old husband of four months witnessed the crash.

She was taken to a local hospital in Hope where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet stopped briefly down the road from the collision scene; however, did not return to the scene. Instead, he drove to Hope where he attended the RCMP detachment to report the incident. Police say he is being cooperative.

The injuries of the 91原创 couple weren't reported.
