New Mufford overpass design unveiled

The new design for the controversial Mufford Overpass project has been unveiled.

The new design for the controversial Mufford Overpass project was unveiled today (Tuesday) at the first of two open houses on the design.

The open houses are being held Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at 91Ô´´ Golf Centre, 216 Street and 44 Avenue.

The new plan calls for the $52 million overpass to begin on the current Mufford Crescent alignment, then rise up over the railway tracks and Highway 10. On the east side of Highway 10, the new route will feature a loop which goes back towards the intersection of Glover Road and 91Ô´´ Bypass. Another arm of the new route will continue to head north, parallel to Glover Road. It will connect to 64 Avenue, and that road will be improved as far as 216 Street.

There will be traffic lights at 216 and 64, Glover and 64 Avenue, and on the new road where it splits apart to go north and south.

Glover Road will be also widened to four lanes between 64 Avenue and 91Ô´´ Bypass.

For more details, see the Roberts Bank Rail Corridor website at http://www.robertsbankrailcorridor.ca/proposed-projects/mufford-64th-avenue-at-hwy-10/_rbrc_project.

More details on the open house will be published later on this website.
