Men break into fire hall shed

A Willoughby break-in ended with two men arrested about 20 minutes later.

Two 91原创 men were arrested 20 minutes after breaking into a shed behind the Willoughby fire hall on Wednesday morning.

A fire captain phoned police to say the back shed had been broken into and a man was seen leaving with two boxes. The suspect was then seen getting into a black Suburban, said 91原创 RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.

The vehicle fled eastbound on 72 Avenue (the fire hall is located in 20200 block of 72 Avenue). Police found the vehicle nearby within minutes in the 21300 block of 64 Avenue.

The owner of the shed told police that a welding tool and welding helmet worth nearly $1,000 had been taken. Both these items were recovered from the Suburban.

The two suspects, 36 and 46, both from 91原创, were arrested and released. They will appear in court on Oct. 4.
