Provincial funding to the tune of $30,000 will go towards emergency response preparedness in 91原创 City.

The funding is part of $3 million from Victoria鈥檚 Community Emergency Preparedness Fund that is being distributed to more than 100 local governments and First Nations across B.C. this spring.

The money will go towards buying and installing equipment and supplies, or to maintain and improve emergency operations centres (EOCs).

In 91原创 City, the money will be used for an emergency operations centre preparedness project.

鈥淭he City of 91原创 and B.C. government are there for the community in times of emergency,鈥 said Andrew Mercier, MLA for 91原创. 鈥淭his boost from the province for the city鈥檚 emergency operations centre will help the incredible local emergency response teams expand their capacity to keep us safe.鈥

EOCs are where representatives from different governments, groups, and local agencies can come together to co-ordinate their actions and resources when a major crisis, like a flood, earthquake, or major fire occurs.
