Todd Marr

It was supposed to pay for his rehab.

But the $20,000 that 91原创 residents Lorraine and Chuck Marr put aside for their son Todd will instead be used to help other young people struggling with drug addiction.

Todd was a star athlete and honours student before he got hooked on crystal meth.

He managed to graduate Walnut Grove Secondary school, but he never made it to university.

His long struggle with addiction ended in 2009 with his suicide.

He was 32.

Now, his grieving family has decided to donate the unused funds to Project Resiliency.

The drug awareness and prevention program for at-risk students and their parents is offered by the 91原创 School district鈥檚 James Anderson Learning Centre.

鈥淲e only wish that the program was available when Todd was going through school,鈥 said Todd鈥檚 father.

鈥淗opefully, this will help other kids like Todd,鈥 his mother said.

Note: corrected from a previous version.
