A forecast of five days or more of straight rain has resulted in an emergency homeless shelter being set upat the Gateway of Hope.
The Province allows for the emergency shelters to be set up in extreme weather conditions, like when the temperatures drop to zero degrees or in heavy rain. The police can assist people at risk to get to the shelter.
Teens looking for a dry, warm place to sleep still don't have a place to go however. The Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services was hoping both Township and City councils would address helping with funding two or more beds for youth, but so far, it hasn't been put on either agenda.
The number of homeless in 91原创 is on the increase and Gateway of Hope has been full since the summer months.
