The family of a missing woman last seen at Crescent Beach is not giving up on the search for the beloved Jinghua Xu, who is being "missed more than words can say."
Missing since Feb. 23, Xu was last seen at approximately 1:50 a.m. in the 2500-block of 161A Street in South Surrey and has not been seen or heard from since. The 44-year-old's car was found in Crescent Beach.
"This was not a walk for leisure or reflection鈥攕omething more complex was unfolding that morning," said family friend Tanya Johnson, who is also to assist in the community's effort to find Xu.
"Jinghua was navigating something tender and difficult, as many of us do in the quiet places of our lives. We may never fully know what she was carrying, but what we do know is this: she is deeply loved, and her family is doing everything they can to bring her home."
Since that day in February, Xu's family and the wider South Surrey community has organized search parties to find Xu and is now running a GoFundMe to support the effort in recovery, the fundraiser states.
With a $7,000 goal, the funds raised will also go towards family care, travel expenses and costs associated with daily living. Johnson is also appealing for more volunteers 鈥 in particular, divers and those qualified to conduct underwater searches.
Xu is described as an Asian female, approximately 5鈥2鈥 tall with a medium build and black hair. She was last seen wearing a khaki jacket.
"Before this heartbreaking chapter began, Jinghua was living a quiet, beautiful life as a loving mother, devoted wife, and kind friend. She has always been someone who offers her presence with gentle grace鈥攏urturing her children, supporting her family, and showing up for others with quiet strength and care," Johnson says.
Xu's father, husband and brother are all spending day after day searching for her while her mother in China is taking care of the two children, while Xu's husband Alex travels between the two countries to search and care for his kids.
鈥淚 am profoundly moved by the kindness and selflessness of my wife鈥檚 former teachers, friends, and even strangers. Your support gives us strength during this unbearable time," the husband states in the GoFundMe.
Anyone with information about Xu's whereabouts is asked to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2025-10027 (SU).
