For a second time, 91原创鈥檚 Kalyn Hartmann has earned recognition from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

GNAC honours for Hartmann and two other members of the SFU volleyball team, Jocelyn Sherman from Victoria, and Brooke Dexter from Anchorage, Alaska, came after the conclusion of a successful 2023 NCAA regular season.

The Red Leafs finished fourth in the league standings with a record of 16-10 overall and 11-7 in league play.

Hartmann was an honorable mention after ranking sixth in the league with a team-best hitting percentage of .306.

The senior was 11th in the GNAC after putting up 0.96 blocks per set and 12th with an average of 2.93 points per set. She was also an honourable mention in 2021.

Hartmann wound up the season Nov. 18, with an outstanding performance on a Saturday evening where the SFU Red Leafs graduating class of seniors, played their final game at Burnaby Mountain鈥檚 West Gym.

SFU earned a dominant 3-1 win over the visiting Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks in its regular season finale. After dropping a tight first frame 26-24, the Red Leafs came back to sweep the next three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-16.

Hartmann was at the center of the SFU attack, as she posted a team- and season-high 14 kills on just 29 attempts (.448 efficiency rate). Hartmann had a team-best five block assists, adding three digs and an ace in a brilliant performance. Fellow senior Hanna Kolof of Vancouver) was also highly involved, racking up eight kills, eight digs, and an ace. She had a pair of solo blocks and one block assist.

鈥淚t has probably been my best experience,鈥 said Hartmann of her time at SFU.

鈥淭he last six years have been so memorable and life-changing. My teammates are the most supportive people. I came in so fresh and green and I just can鈥檛 thank the coaching staff enough for the amount of time they put into our team. I鈥檝e grown so much as a player. It鈥檚 been a great six years.鈥

Hartmann was the LSS junior girls athlete of the year award in 2015 and earned MVP honours as the Saints won the senior girls AAA Fraser Valley banner, a first in school history.

Hartman also won gold with her club team, Team Academy, at the 2017 provincial club championships, earning all-star honours along the way. She also represented Team BC at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
