Port Coquitlam Trailblazers defeated the Aldergrove Kodiaks in Friday night's game, Jan. 10, with a 4-2 win.
In first period, Aldergrove's Jayan Biring snuck in the puck at 6:06 on his own, scoring the first goal of the night and for the Kodiaks.
Not long after, Derek Leroux, with an assist from Matthew Biros and Branden Pollock, tied the game at 9:05 for the Trailblazers.
Just under three minutes later, Noah Iacutone scored a second goal for Port Coquitlam with assistance from Ryan Caughlan and Blake Van Straten.
Second period saw several penalties for hooking, tripping, and even too many players on the ice for Aldergrove. Port Coquitlam served a major penalty for game misconduct and another for a check to the head.
But the Trailblazers' Brady Reed managed a third goal for Port Coquitlam at 16:28, with an assist from Cam Trolland and Fletcher Lucas during a power play.
Third period was even tighter for both teams.
Port Coquitlam's Biros nabbed a fourth goal for his team, with an assist from Lucas Baxter and Leroux, ensuring a win with only 1:08 left of the final period.
With only 38 seconds left of third, Aldergrove's Taran Biring scored a second goal for the Kodiaks, with an assist from Lincoln MacDonald, though it wasn't enough to secure overtime.
Kodiaks netminder Nick Mayne was kept busier once again than rival Keiran Caughlan as the Trailblazers outshot them 57-20.
The three stars of the game were Port Coquitlam's Biros (first), Reed (second), and Iacutone (third).
Kodiaks remain seventh in the seven-team Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), while the Trailblazers are fourth in the Tom Shaw Conference.
Up next: Kodiaks play Chilliwack Jets on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Aldergrove Community Centre. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
