Outdoor viewing parties hosted in Fort 91原创

Village鈥檚 newest eatery partners with others to host family-friendly events at Bedford Plaza

The series is tied 1-1 heading into Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and more than a hundred Vancouver Canucks fans of all ages are expected to come together to catch the latest action on a big screen outside Fort 91原创鈥檚 newest eatery on Sunday evening.

The team at the new Trails End Cafe set up a 16 X 9 foot screen and sound system outside the bistro, in the Bedford Landing, on Friday. And given the reception they received first time hosting, they will be doing it again Sunday and Tuesday, so hockey fans can watch the Canucks down on the Edmonton Oilers, explained Stephen Gregorig, chief operating officer for Smugglers Trail.

鈥淲hat a night. The fans were great! Wasn鈥檛 the outcome that we were hoping for but we can look forward to the game on Sunday,鈥 Gregorig said of Friday鈥檚 viewing and the Canuck鈥檚 fall to the Edmonton Oilers, 4-3.

鈥淲e love sports and there was nothing local happening for the Canucks at this scale,鈥 Gregorig elaborated. 鈥淐ommunity is also very important to us and we love getting people together for celebrations.鈥

The company, which also operates a brewery off 200 Street, hosts international rugby viewing parties at its Walnut Grove facility, and Gregorig said this seemed like a natural extension.

鈥淲e thought it would be a great use of the amazing weather we were having and create memories for the families of 91原创,鈥 Gregorig said of the outdoor family-friendly viewing party.

鈥淲ith our partners Thunderbird Showpark, Cooper Power, and Tourism 91原创 we are pleased to provide our community an outdoor venue to cheer on the Vancouver Canucks in their 2024 playoff run.鈥

Weather permitting, the next two games will also be views at Bedford Plaza, directly north of the bistro, on Billy Brown Road in Fort 91原创. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. on both Sunday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 14.

鈥淥ur meteorologist friends have been kind enough to provide gorgeous weather for this weekend,鈥 he said, noting the game can also be viewed inside the bistro on a bit smaller screen.

鈥淲e are anticipate 150 people for the next game,鈥 and potentially even more for Game 4, he said, encouraging people to bring their lawn chairs and cheer on the team with their neighbours and friends.

鈥淕o Canucks Go!鈥 Gregorig cheered.
