The BC School Sports Boys Basketball Provincial Championships are once back at the 91原创 Events Centre on March 5-8, with four 16-team tournaments playing out, and champions to be crowned this Saturday.
The hometown Credo Christian squad lost their opener on Wednesday in the Double-A tournament by a score of 63-49 to the King George Dragons of Vancouver. The Dragons came into the tournament as the number six seed, while the Kodiaks were ranked 11.
Arend Vandergaag and Deakan Kobes each scored 16 points for the 91原创 team.
The Kodiaks bounced back with a big 69-39 win over Nechako Valley on Thursday morning. Their next game will be on Friday at 1:45 p.m.
A pair of upsets marked opening day of the championships as in the Quad-A tournament, it was the No. 13 Abbotsford Senior Panthers defeating No. 4 Tamanawis, while in the Triple-A tournament, No. 11 Mark R. Isfeld Ice beat No. 6 Magee.
All 64 teams across the four tiers tipped off at 91原创 Events Centre on Wednesday with the No. 13 Abbotsford Senior Panthers and No. 11 Mark R. Isfeld Ice (Courtenay) advancing in 4A and 3A Tournament, respectively.
Thursday sees the quarter-final round, with those games beginning at 3:30 p.m. while the consolation side of the draw saw their games tip off at 8:3 0a.m.
