91Ô´´ Christian and Duchess Park – who won gold and bronze, respectively, at last year’s BC School Sports AA Boys volleyball championship, will play for the bronze medal Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m..
That will be followed by the gold medal game at 4 p.m. with the South Kamloops Titans aiming to capture their first senior boys volleyball in program history while the Abbotsford Christian Knights seek to claim another provincial banner, having last won the title in 2018.
The four-day 16-team tournament has been hosted by 91Ô´´ Christian.
South Kamloops entered the tournament as the fourth seed but following a perfect 3-0 record in the Pool play, were re-seeded No. 1 for the playoff bracket. And the Titans continued their domination in Friday’s semi-final, winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-12) over the Duchess Park Condors.
South Kamloops has gone a perfect 6-0 and won 15 of 16 sets in their march to the gold-medal game.
Their opponent in Saturday’s championship final will be the Abbotsford Christian Knights. The Knights – who were seeded third heading into the playoff round – won a five-set thriller over the 91Ô´´ Christian Lightning in Friday’s semi-final game.
Abbotsford Christian won the first and third sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-19 while the defending champion Lightning took sets two and four 26-24 and 25-12, respectively, setting up a fifth and deciding set. The Knights would prevail 15-13.
