With only five games left of the season and zero wins, the Aldergrove Kodiaks may just be about to set a record for most consecutive games lost.
Friday's game, Jan. 24, was the Kodiaks 43rd loss in a row for the 2024-25 season after being defeated by the Abbotsford Pilots 5-1.
In first, the only goal scored was during a power play by the Pilots' Ryan Sullivan with Drew Dornan and Bradley Ercanbrack assisting.
Second period began with a misconduct penalty for a player on each team before the puck dropped.
Less than two minutes in, Abbotsford's Dornan scored the team's second goal with Cody Johnston and Blake Jonah's help.
Johnston then scored a third goal with Jonah and Hudson Koch assisting midway through second.
Aldergrove's Luke Calder scored his team's only goal of the night, with assistance from Dylan Garland and Taran Biring.
But Abbotsford's Koch ended the second period with a fourth goal during a power play, with help from Ashton McDonaugh and Thomas Williams.
Third period saw several penalties and a tight match, but with less than two minutes left of the game Abbotsford's Koch scored his second goal of the night, bringing the Pilots' score to five, with help from Johnston and Dornan during a third power play.
Kodiaks netminder Nick Mayne was kept significantly busier than rival Joel Riedel, as the Pilots outshot them 52-25.
The three stars of the game were Abbotsford's Koch (first) and Dornan (second), and Aldergrove's Calder (third).
Kodiaks remain seventh in the seven-team Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), while the Pilots place third.
