VIDEO: Crashes common at 216th and Fraser in 91原创: ICBC stats

But not the worst intersection

An intersection that has been averaging three crashes a month over the last five years is far from the worst in 91原创, ICBC statistics suggest.

After a Monday morning, March 25 crash involving a Ford Bronco and a Nissan Rogue at Fraser Highway and 216th Street sent two people to hospital, some online commenters remarked on the frequency of crashes at that location.

One cited speeding as a factor, and another estimated there have been six accidents within the last two to three weeks at the intersection, and said there were several near-misses, two where pedestrians narrowly avoided being hit, and one involving a scooter.

91原创 RCMP reported the Monday crash, around 7 a.m., happened when the Nissan Rogue was traveling north on Fraser Highway.

The Ford Bronco heading south on Fraser was making a left-hand turn when the crash occurred.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene.

Both drivers were transported to hospital with what was reported to be minor injuries, and both vehicles had be towed away.

As of Friday, investigators were still seeking witnesses to assist in determining the cause of the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP non-emergency line at 604-532-3200.
