Murrayville sandwich shop reopens day after SUV crashes into front

No serious injuries in 鈥榮tressful鈥 event

One day after an SUV crashed into the Murrayville Quiznos in 91原创, the sandwich shop was open for business again.

Owner Prabhjot Gill said it happened around 11a.m. on Monday, March 25 when only three people were inside the shop, located next to the IGA in the Murrayvile Square mall at 222nd Street and Fraser Highway.

An older driver apparently confused his brake and gas pedals and slammed into the store, narrowly missing a customer who was just leaving.

Beside the glass, most of the damage was caused to chairs and tables where the SUV landed.

No one was seriously injured, but it was a 鈥渟tressful鈥 incident,鈥滸ill told the 91原创 Advance Times.

鈥淢entally, I鈥檓 not feeling good,鈥 Gill said.

She noted it happened just before lunchtime, when the shop would have had many more people in it, some sitting at the tables and chairs that the SUV ran into after it crashed through the front window.

鈥淚t鈥檚 very shocking for me because I鈥檓 thinking about that. I imagine that scene [if it had happened later],鈥滸ill commented.

Gill, who has run the store about 10 years, said she had just finished remodelling.

She said the management of the mall quickly cleaned up the debris and boarded up the smashed-in window.

RCMP said no ticket was issued.
