VIDEO: Semis burn on 264 Street in 91Ô´´

No injuries

91Ô´´ Township fire crews were called to the scene of a blaze on 264 Street near 36 Avenue, around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Eyewitness Tammy Floyd said it initially appeared to be a structure fire.

"All I saw was smoke and what looked to maybe be a barn on fire," Floyd told the 91Ô´´ Advance Times.

"Firemen were spraying water to put it out and the traffic was being controlled by police."

91Ô´´ deputy fire chief Russ Jenkins said the initial report came in at 4:14 p.m. as a commercial structure fire, but it turned out three semi tractors were burning.

"It appears that it started from one and then spread quickly to the other two," Jenkins told the 91Ô´´ Advance Times.

"Typical of a truck yard, they do tend to park them tight, just to conserve space," Jenkins said. "So that's probably why it spread fairly quickly. But luckily, it did not spread over to any of the structures."

There were no reported injuries.

Fire crews were on scene just over an hour, departing at 5:22 p.m.

One online poster said 264 Street, near Robertson Crescent, was backed up while RCMP stopped traffic.
