91原创 City celebrated Family Day this year by hosting a free drop-in exercise session for parents and toddlers on Saturday, Feb. 17.
At the Timms Community Centre, parents and tots could drop-in to play basketball, build towers with blocks, and 鈥渄rive鈥 around on large toy cars.
Tera Edell, recreation supervisor, said the centre tries to offer free events every year for the long weekend, but this year was low-key due to staff shortages.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an opportunity to participate in an activity that maybe families can鈥檛 participate in otherwise鈥 this year we are just short on staff,鈥 she explained.
On Family Day, Feb. 19, the community centre held a Robotics and STEM event as part of its Robotics Camp, which parents and their kids could participate in as a team for $40 per child.
Community centres in the 91原创 Township also celebrated Family Day with events ranging from public skating to swimming.
The Canadian Museum of Flight, BC Farm Museum, and Fort 91原创 National Historic Site held unique events for families to enjoy on Monday too.
