One person was taken to hospital after an SUV crashed into the outer wall of a 91原创 motel on Tuesday evening, local RCMP said.
Just before 11 p.m. on April 23, a Nissan Kicks slammed into the wall of the Westward Inn & Suites at 196A Street and Fraser Highway, said Cpl. Craig Van Herk.
The occupant of the room was bumped by the wall and knocked down. He was taken to hospital for assessment, but was not believed to have been seriously injured, said Van Herk.
In an online post, a man identifying himself as the occupant of the room said the impact aggravated a previous condition, and that one leg is now 鈥減otentially unusable for the rest of my life.鈥
鈥淰ictims like me are the only ones that end up paying the price in the long run,鈥 he wrote.
The driver fled the scene on foot before police arrived, but was later located and was issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of the crash.
The collision appears to have happened from the parking lot of a nearby Wendy鈥檚 restaurant 鈥 a section of wooden fence dividing the parking lot from the hotel was knocked down, and some cracks were visible on the motel鈥檚 stucco exterior.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, Van Herk said.
