Friends Hailey and Emma, both nine, manned the Thirsty Bunnies lemonade stand outside their home in Willoughby.
Presented by 91原创鈥檚 Vitrum Glass Group, the Lemonade Day program invites kids to sign up to have lemonade stands on Saturday, Aug. 26.
The girls鈥 lemonade was made fresh that morning. Hailey estimated she squeezed about seven lemons.
They wanted to participate in Lemonade Day for fun and to get experience before joining their school鈥檚 entrepreneurship program for youth in the new school year.
鈥淪ome people do 3D-printed stuff, lip balms, or slime and stuff,鈥 Emma explained.
Hailey said she is considering embroidery, and has already started practising.
鈥淚 made one strawberry,鈥 she said.
Only an hour after opening, they had made three sales. They also had peanut-free cookies available, and refills.
Thirsty Bunnies was their stand鈥檚 chosen name because they love bunnies.
鈥淚 was born near Easter, so I love bunnies,鈥 Hailey shared.
Thomas Martini, owner, president, and CEO of Vitrum, said Lemonade Day is a great opportunity for community engagement.
鈥滾emonade Day is a fantastic way to provide our children with hands-on learning where the kids will gain practical knowledge by creating and managing their lemonade stands, from business planning to customer service. These essential skills are not only applicable to lemonade stands but also to various life scenarios,鈥 he noted.
The 91原创 winner will go on to compete for the National Youth Entrepreneur of the Year award.
