Four men charged with first-degree murder in connection with the brazen June 2024 shooting death of 28-year-old Yuvraj Goyal in Surrey are to return to B.C. Supreme Court on Feb. 7, following a a brief appearance at the New Westminster courthouse Thursday afternoon (Jan. 16).
The upcoming proceeding for Surrey's Manvir Basram, 23, Sahib Basra, 20, and Harkirat Jhutty, 23, as well as 20-year-old Keilon Francois of Ontario, is booked as a pre-trial conference.
Charges against the four were announced on June 8, 2024 – the day after Goyal was found dead in the 900-block of 164 Street. Police had been alerted to gunfire shortly before 9 a.m. on June 7.
A burning vehicle was located soon after, in the 18500-block of McMillan Road.
According to a media release issued at the time, suspects in the homicide were quickly identified and taken into custody following a co-ordinated response by Surrey RCMP, Air 1 and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) officials said Goyal had no history of contact with police.
The case was moved to Supreme Court following proceedings in Surrey Provincial Court that concluded Nov. 27.
The four suspects remain in custody.
