91原创 Seniors Resource Society (LSRS) hosted a 鈥淔all Fun Day鈥� on Friday, Sept. 22, that was open to the public to mingle with local seniors.

Live entertainment was provided by the Goldie Oldies Trio band, and the centre鈥檚 cafe featured pot pies.

The Tuk Shop also had a blowout sale and temporarily expanded to another room for the day so visitors could explore more options.

鈥淲hen there鈥檚 an opportunity for us to do something like this, whether it鈥檚 Silver Pride or a Tuk Shop sale, we invite our members and the public in鈥� we鈥檙e happy to see new people and faces, that鈥檚 what it鈥檚 all about,鈥� said executive director Kate Ludlam.

She noted that these types of events are important to help seniors who may be struggling with social isolation.

鈥漌e want to make sure we give people opportunities to come out, connect, and engage, and it was a great vibe,鈥� Ludlam said.

All sales from Friday go back to the senior centre to support its programs and services.

Ludlam also noted that volunteers in the community services department will shop in the Tuk Shop for them to help homeless clients.

鈥淗omelessness is growing rapidly in the seniors population,鈥� she said.

For National Seniors Day, or United Nations International Day of Older Persons, on Oct. 1, Ludlam said the society is making plans to arrange an event for members and visitors.
