Fort 91原创 Community Association has put a call to 91原创 artists to design a new banner for downtown Fort 91原创, and deadline for submissions is fast approaching, said Janine Twist.
鈥淭he current red and white banners have been up year-round since 2019 and are starting to show their age,鈥� she said.
鈥淎 new replacement is needed that conveys the spirit of Fort 91原创.鈥�
The winning artist will not only see their artwork displayed in 28 locations in the village starting in 2024, but also receive $1,000.
Deadline for applications is Oct 1.
鈥淭he village has a vibrant showing of banners throughout the year,鈥� Twist said, noting that in addition to these year-round banners, there are seasonal and event banners.
The Fort 91原创 Community Association has watched over the banner program since 2020, when the Fort 91原创 Business Improvement Association was dissolved.
The Township of 91原创 supports the Fort 91原创 Community Association with funds for the year-round banners and seasonal banners.
Last year the Fort 91原创 Community Association unveiled the new spring banner depicting salmon and wolves designed by Salish artist Atheana Picha.
鈥淭he event banners are funded and managed by the event organizations. The banners for the Jazz Festival and stalew pow wow promote 91原创鈥檚 community celebrations. The Remembrance Day banners connect us to those soldiers who are depicted and call us to commemorate their sacrifices,鈥� Twist explained.
鈥淏anners invite people to look up and are a vital part of the streetscape.鈥�
