After two days of record-breaking attendance, 91原创 RibFest was hit by the storm that swept across the Lower Mainland late Saturday night, Aug. 17.
While there is some damage, primarily the shade tents and debris, chairperson Rick Davis said the third and final day of the event will still go ahead today.
"We just want folks to know we may be opening late, like noon, and some things might be a little more barebones. There is no shade tent now, so wear sunscreen," he advised.
Davis said this year's RibFest has been an "amazing success" out of the gate, setting a record for attendance on day one and two.
"We had almost 14,000 people on our first day," Davis estimated.
"Usually that's our least busy day and I think our previous record was somewhere around 11,000."
Saturday saw a record of 24,000 people.
This morning, about 50 Rotarians and volunteers are on site cleaning up for opening, but Davis said more people are welcome to come by to help out if they're able.
RibFest is taking place until 8 p.m. today at the McLeod Athletic Park, 5687 216 St.
