Federal candidates, political parties, and people wanting to show which candidate they are backing will have to put their signs in private property only within 91Ô´´ City.

Election signs cannot be installed before a provincial or federal election is officially called and signs must be removed within seven days after the election.

Under 91Ô´´ City bylaws, election signs can not be put up on public property. Signs placed on private property must have the consent of the owner or occupier.

As well, the City limits the size of election signs. They can be no larger than four feet by four feet, and if attached to the ground, will not extend more than three metres (9.84 feet) above ground.

Signs cannot obstruct or otherwise interfere with sight lines or movement of motor vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists or any other, or obstruct the visibility of regulatory sign or other traffic control devices.

The signs cannot be displayed or distributed on days designated as voting days within 100m (328 feet) of a building or other place where voting for local elections, by-elections, referenda or other voting is being conducted.

An employee of the City may remove any sign where the posting of it is a hazard to public safety as determined by the bylaw
compliance officer. Political signs are one of the categories in the City bylaw that are exempt from requiring a permit.
