A horse was killed in a collision with a car on a busy South 91原创 road on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 9.
The single-vehicle crash took place in the 24500-block of 16 Avenue at around 5:52 a.m., said 91原创 Township deputy fire chief Russ Jenkins.
No one was riding the horse at the time.
"It looks like the horse got out and got struck," Jenkins said.
The car had severe damage to the roof, and the horse was dead at the side of the road by the time firefighters arrived.
The car's occupant was checked out by BC Ambulance paramedics and did not have to go to the hospital.
Township of 91原创 crews removed the horse from the scene.
It's extremely rare for a horse to be killed on the roads of 91原创, noted Jenkins.
Although horses do get loose from time to time, drivers can usually avoid them, especially during the daylight. This crash took place hours before dawn.
