A damp December has meant that some hiking trails around 91Ô´´ are closed, including part of the Arbour Ribbon Trail.
91Ô´´ Township announced the closure of the northern part of the trail, from about halfway between 56 Avenue and Glover Road, just before Christmas. With heavy rain throughout the holidays causing high water on the Nicomekl floodplain, the last few hundred meters remained closed as of Dec. 27.
Parts of the trail near the footbridge were submerged.
The southern portion of the trail in the Derek Doubleday Arboretum, and part of the trail near the Christian Life Assembly Church, remained open.
Trail closures for partial flooding are routine around 91Ô´´, especially in the winter months.
