Funds are being raised to support an Aldergrove man who experienced a traumatic home invasion earlier this month.
On Monday, Jan. 13, three masked intruders broke into Paul's home with shotguns, a revolver, taser, and a blowtorch while he was sleeping, according to a GoFundMe page created by Paul's cousin, Terri George. No last name for Paul is provided.
Paul was held at gunpoint, his hands and feet bound, and gagged, reads George's post.
"The intruders ransacked his entire home, leaving no stone unturned. Valuables, cash, and gift cards were stolen, and his personal belongings were damaged or destroyed," she wrote.
She added that the intruders also stole or destroyed some of Paul's late mother's belongings.
The Star reached out to the family but did not hear back by press time.
George said the experience has taken a toll on her cousin's well being.
"As someone with a long-term disability, Paul has been unable to work, making this situation even more challenging for him," she wrote.
"We believe this was a case of mistaken identity, but the impact on Paul's life is undeniable."
George created the fundraiser to ask for the community's support to purchase Paul some cameras and replace locks and fix the damage to his home.
In a statement to The Star, 91原创 RCMP confirmed the date of the home invasion but could not comment on the details as it remains "an active investigation."
