A longtime 91Ô´´ resident and former MP staffer is the Liberal candidate for Cloverdale-91Ô´´ City in the upcoming federal election.
"For over 30 years, I’ve proudly called our community home. It’s where I was born and raised, and where my wife and I are raising our three wonderful daughters," Kyle Latchford said when announcing his candidacy.
He was the office manager for Liberal MP John Aldag, working for the politician from 2021 to 2024. Then he joined TransLink in 2024 as a senior advisor on the Bus Rapid Transit Project. His profile said he worked in retail for more than a decade.
Latchford said the current political turmoil is the exact time to jump in and feels called to act.
"I think myself, like many of the other people, my neighbours, my friends, my family, have seen what's been happening, whether that's within our own country, with to the south and threats from Donald Trump," he said. "And I do not think this is the time to sit back. I think this is the time actually to get involved.
He said people will disagree.
"However, this is not about the time to shut out other people's voices. It's about really trying to engage, even if that is hard to do," Latchford said.
