With construction in its early stages, the Surrey 91Ô­´´ SkyTrain project is hosting its last round of meetings for the public to comment on the design of the eight new stations.

At a series of in-person meetings, and one virtual gathering, the project will share findings from the first round of public engagement, which took place in June.

Visitors to the meetings will get to see updated designs for the planned stations, including info about landscaping, plazas, and accessibility and design features.

People can also view the updated designs and share feedback online by visiting .

There are four in-person open houses:

• Thursday, Nov. 28, 3-7 p.m. at Hope Community Church, 18625 Fraser Hwy., Surrey

• Saturday, Nov. 30, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hampton Inn and Suites, 19500 91Ô­´´ Bypass, Surrey

• Monday, Dec. 2, 3-7 p.m. at Coast 91Ô­´´ City Hotel and Convention Centre, 20393 Fraser Hwy., 91Ô­´´

• Thursday, Dec. 5, 3-7 p.m. at Comfort Inn and Suites, 8255 166 St., 91Ô­´´

The long-planned new SkyTrain route will run from the current terminus in Surrey down Fraser Highway, with two stations in 91Ô­´´, Willowbrook Station at the shopping centre near Fraser Highway and 196 Street, and 91Ô­´´ City Centre Station, at 203 Street and Industrial Ave. The last segment of the line will run down Industrial, parallel to Fraser Highway.

When originally announced, the SkyTrain line was budgeted at $4 billion and scheduled to be completed in 2028, but in August, the province announced the cost had risen to $6 billion and the trains are expected to start running in late 2029.

The arrival of SkyTrain is expected to help transform the communities along the route, including the Willowbrook and downtown 91Ô­´´ City areas. 

When the line is complete, a trip from 91Ô­´´ City Centre and Surrey Centre is expected to take about 22 minutes, and from 91Ô­´´ City to downtown Vancouver is just over an hour.
