For more than 25 years, the Elks and Aldergrove Fair Association have offered various no-cost Christmas celebrations for Aldergrove children and their families.
On Saturday, the Aldergrove Elks children鈥檚 Christmas party is returning to the Aldergrove legion hall, with special guests including Santa, the Grinch, and princesses.
Parents and children are invited to participate in activities like face painting, balloon animals, a 45-minute magic show, and more from 2 to 5 p.m.
Last year the Elks couldn鈥檛 hold a Christmas party, but Jodi Mangat, one of the organizers, said they gave out hot chocolate on the corner of 272nd Street and Fraser Highway.
This year hotdogs and juice boxes will be given out at the party.
While the event is free, cash and food donations for the Aldergrove Veterans and Seniors Society are encouraged.
鈥淲hatever we can give at Christmas is appreciated. Everyone鈥檚 hurting right now, especially the veterans,鈥 Mangat commented.
She said the Elks are hoping for more than 200 children to attend, so it can give out the prepared goodie bags to kids.
Santa will be available for photos, and the Grinch as well if kids can catch him.
This family event is presented by the Aldergrove Elks in association with the Royal Canadian Legion in Aldergrove.
It will be at the Aldergrove legion hall located on 26607 Fraser Hwy.
The non-profit organization works towards filling needs in the community, with a particular focus on helping children and families of children in need.
The community has come to eagerly anticipate the Elks annual kid鈥檚 Christmas party and subsequent Light-Up Christmas Parade that brightens up the downtown core, which takes place the following weekend on Saturday, Dec. 16.
