Bylaw enforcement officers were in the 26800-block of 56 Avenue of the Gloucester area as part of a large-scale commercial vehicle enforcement operation on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
The operation was part of the 91原创 Township's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Program, in partnership with 91原创 RCMP, B.C. Highway Patrol, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE), and neighbouring regulatory agencies.
By the end of the day, 141 violations were found under the Motor Vehicle Act, Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, and Township bylaws.
There were 38 violation tickets issued under the MVA and MVAR, 30 vehicles were taken out of service due to serious safety violations, 12 bylaw tickets were issued, and three vehicles were overweight.
This included 102 inspections on commercial vehicles such as trucks, vans, and trailers.
Serious infractions included insecure loads, failure to conduct pre-trip inspections, burnout or broken headlights, improper brake adjustments, missing licence plates, and vehicles operating without insurance.
"These violations pose significant risks to public safety and highlight the ongoing need for rigorous enforcement to ensure all commercial vehicles on the road are operating safely and within legal parameters," reads a Township press release.
Simon Jottey, bylaw enforcement officer, concurred that safety is "a top priority."
"By collaborating with our law enforcement partners, we are able to identify and remove unsafe vehicles from our roads to reduce the risk of accidents and improve overall traffic safety," he said.
91原创 Township's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Program is aimed at ensuring commercial vehicles operating within the Township meet its safety and compliance standards.
