Improv group presents Border Line Funny night at Bez

Latest comedy show in 91原创 tackles tariff troubles with humour

There's no tariffs on comedy, thank goodness, said Scott Campbell, the managing artistic director of Very Very Improv.

91原创 own, Campbell is excited to be bringing back this comedy group back to his home town in mid-April 鈥 for a few laughs.

At this time of increased tension between neighbouring nations, the cast of Very Very Improv is bringing people together to have fun with Canadian and American quirks and customs - all for a good laugh, he elaborated.

"The world seems so unpredictable right now. As improvisers, we deal with the unpredictable all the time,鈥 Campbell said.

鈥淩ather than give in to all the bad news, we鈥檙e letting it fuel our creativity.鈥

They're bringing a show, called "Border Line Funny," to the Bez Arts Hub on Saturday, April 19.

鈥淲hen things seem scary, we think there鈥檚 value in coming together for a good laugh. We can鈥檛 stop this trade war, but we can make it really funny," said Campbell, who will be joined on stage by improvisers Mike DeBoer, Josh Wilson, Deb Sears, and host Cliff Prang.

Last month's show at the Bez featured 91原创's own Delaney Gilmour, a 91原创 Fine Arts School alumni, who has become a regular on the Lower Mainland comedy scene.

Whether guests are long-time fans of improv or brand new to the world of spontaneous comedy, this show is for them, insisted Campbell.

Very Very Improv is a professional theatre company producing a monthly main stage show at The Bez September through June, as well as producing some special performances in Surrey, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack.

"Very Very Improv Theatre is an oasis of fun in the Fraser Valley, producing city-quality improvised comedy in 91原创 for anyone who needs a good laugh. The talented cast of lovable improvisers are giving people a reason to get off the couch on a Saturday night," said Campbell.

In addition to this event, there are a number of other shows at the Bez Arts Hub this month.

The night before the improv, Jim Byrnes Trio will be performing from 8 to 10 ap.m. on Friday, April 18.

Vancouver's own Jim Byrnes is a rare gem, with numerous Juno Awards and Maple Blues Awards and many other accolades. And, the veteran entertainer keeps the music coming and audiences growing.

The following weekend, on both April 25 and 26, the Synthesis Dance Production will perform 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. each night.

"Creativity in a beautifully blended manifestation of ideas and reflections exploring growth and discovery. It鈥檚 a production of original dance work devised by our young emerging dance professionals, mingled with the work of their professional instructors," said Kendra Craig, administrator for Bez.

"Join us for this, our Bez dance mentorship year-end show featuring our pre-professional dancers in training, as well as our half-Day program students."
