91原创-based Deanna Horn of British Columbia Real Estate Association has been recognized in Real Estate Professional (REP) magazine鈥檚 2017 Hot List, sponsored by RE/MAX Infinite. The third annual report shines the spotlight on the individuals changing the face of the Canadian real estate industry.

REP鈥檚 2017 Hotlist consists of 75 of the most influential developers, brokers, executives, government officials and professionals working in the Canadian real estate today. Their dedication has pushed them to the forefront of the business landscape鈥攅ntitling them to be the movers and shakers of this competitive and diverse marketplace.

鈥淭he heart, blood, bones and nerves of this mammoth business are these professionals who create the products and the environment that make a real estate agent鈥檚 job possible,鈥 said Clay Jarvis, REP journalist. 鈥淢any of these faces will never appear on a billboard, but their efforts, innovative thinking and dedication have pushed them to become the best in their chosen areas of expertise.鈥

In addition to her role as immediate past president for BCREA, Horn runs RE/MAX Treeland Realty with her husband and daughter. Horn says her double duties come with a significant perk.

鈥淚t takes time away from your business, but it also allows you to be very informed with what鈥檚 going on and completely up to date with what鈥檚 going on with the profession.鈥

Horn was president of BCREA until March, meaning she led the organization through a tumultuous 2016 that saw a failed attempt to amalgamate the province鈥檚 11 real estate boards and the appointment of a new superintendent to oversee the industry in BC. In addition to BCREA maintaining its goals of education, advocacy and upholding professional standards, Horn says the group is still adjusting its footing to a shifting landscape.

鈥淲e鈥檙e now looking at where we go from here,鈥 she says. 鈥淲e鈥檙e looking at the potential to build on last year and how we work with the new superintendent. I wouldn鈥檛 say we鈥檙e dealing with fallout, but we certainly want to build on what we learned the last couple years and move forward.鈥

Horn was recently honoured with a RE/MAX Special Services award for her many years of community and industry involvement.
