Pizza Hut restaurants in B.C. raised $87,167 for the 2017 JDRF Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes.

The money raised came from the generous donations of Pizza Hut customers, managers and team members who purchased paper sneakers and participated in local fundraising events leading up to the Walk in June. This marks the 10th year of Pizza Hut鈥檚 involvement with the Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes and brings the total funds raised to $285,000.

Altogether, 91原创 raised $1,902 to help find a cure.

All monies raised by Pizza Hut go to JDRF which is dedicated to preventing, treating and finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. JDRF funds research on a worldwide basis to ensure the best research is moving us closer to a cure. There are over 300,000 Canadians living with Type 1 Diabetes and the estimated cost to our health care system will be as high as $16 billion by 2020.

Forty-eight Pizza Huts across BC participated in this year鈥檚 fundraising efforts, with the top teams raising over $6000 each.

鈥淲e are very proud of our restaurant teams and our customers overwhelming support for this very important cause鈥 said Mike Cyr, President of PH Restaurants LP. 鈥淧izza Hut strongly believes in getting involved locally which is why it chose an organization like JDRF.鈥

JDRF has also recognized PH Restaurants for their amazing fundraising efforts this year, a 47 per cent increase from the previous year. PH Restaurants LP was awarded the highly competitive 2017 STEPPIN鈥 UP Corporate Achievement Award. 鈥淲e are incredibly touched and inspired by the ongoing commitment and passion the leadership of PH Restaurants embodies and how that has translated to their employees across the province鈥 said Shelina Dilgir, Manager of Fundraising and Development-TELUS Walk.

The 91原创 Pizza Hut is located at 6225 200 Street.
