Dear Editor,

In Bob鈥檚 otherwise innocuous column about Halloween [No more turnips to scare off Granny, Oct. 26, 91原创 Advance] made better by the omission of any mention of President Trump, just one jarring sentence ruined the ambiance: 鈥淐hristians have never been creative, preferring to steal legends and traditions.鈥

Jesus Christ by all accounts was a most creative mind. He warned about 鈥渢he traditions of men鈥 their inventions and interpretations.

While Christians like to observe the birth of Christ, and resurrection, nowhere is it commanded. Christ only requested that His followers 鈥淩emember Me鈥 after His death.

Easter eggs and bunnies, Pope Gregory鈥檚 declarations and Celts Samhein fall into 鈥渢raditions of men,鈥 which some appropriated falsely into Christianity. People aren鈥檛 perfect are they? Interestingly 鈥渟tealing鈥 is one of the Ten Commandments.

Cherryl Katnich,

Maple Ridge
