One person is dead after a serious rollover crash Sunday evening (Jan. 26).
Delta police and firefighters responded to the single-vehicle collision, which happened shortly after 7 p.m. on the Highway 99 southbound offramp to Highway 17.
In a press release Monday afternoon, police said a white Dodge Ram pickup truck had crashed into the collision impact attenuator before rolling onto its roof.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Alberta man, passed away at the scene. In its release, the Delta Police Department noted it delayed publicly releasing information about the man's death "to ensure proper next of kin notification was complete prior to publication."
The Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), based at BC RCMP Headquarters in Surrey, attended the scene to collect evidence, and the exits were closed for several hours.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dash camera video to contact the DPD at 604-946-4411 and quote file number 2025-1566.
