Arshdeep Bains and the Abbotsfors Canucks have now won 13 games in a row.

The Abbotsford Canucks continue to put a blowtorch to the franchise record books and have now rolled off 13 wins in a row.

The club stepped it up this weekend by sweeping the Laval Rocket – the best team in the AHL – with a 3-2 shootout win on Saturday (April 5) and a 4-3 win on Sunday (April 6).

Abbotsford is in the midst of the longest-ever win streak by any primary team associated with the Canucks franchise and Sunday's win also set a new mark for most wins in a regular season. The Canucks now have 41 wins, beating the previous record of 40 – which was achieved in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Sunday's win combined with a loss by the Calgary Wranglers has also guaranteed home ice in round one of the AHL playoffs. The Canucks will now finish in the top-four of the Pacific Division and earn that advantage.

The Canucks didn't waste any time on Sunday, Phil Di Giuseppe opened the scoring just 32 seconds into the game and Tristen Nielsen added another at 17:53. Abbotsford was all over Laval in the first and out shot them 17-5.

Laval's William Trudeau made it a one-goal game at 5:13 of the second with a power play goal, but Ty Mueller restored the lead three minutes later after Arshdeep Bains found the rookie in the slot. Laval had the 13-5 shots advantage, but the Canucks controlled the latter part of the period and hit two posts.

Mueller put the Canucks up 4-1 just 51 seconds into the third after a he wired a shot past Rocket goalie Connor Hughes. Mueller now has 12 goals on the season and the first-year forward has fit in extremely well in coach Manny Malhotra's system.

Laval refused to go away though and Jared Davidson scored to make it 4-2 at 8:16. The Rocket's Owen Beck added a power play goal with the goalie pulled at 18:36, but the Canucks hung on for the win.

Abbotsford's Nikita Tolopilo had another strong game in goal and made 35 saves for his 17th win on the season. He's also won his last six starts.

Di Giuseppe was a shot monster on Sunday, as he recorded a team-high eight. Laval's Logan Mailloux also had eight shots on goal. Abbotsford's Christian Wolanin was a team-best +3. Three Rocket players (Tyler Wotherspoon, Laurent Dauphin and Zack Hayes) registered -3 nights.

Reported attendance on Sunday was 4,444.

The Canucks remain in second place in the Pacific Division and now have a record of 41-23-2-1. The team remains home this week and next host the Calgary Wranglers for games on Friday (April 11) and Saturday (April 12). The pair of games are the final regular season games for 2024-25.
