Peter Toigo has an expanded role with the 91原创 -based Vancouver Giants, effective today.
Toigo, who has been vice-president of operations for the 91原创-based Western Hockey League team, now has more official responsibilities 鈥 even though he鈥檚 unofficially been doing the job for more than a year.
The Vancouver Giants announced Wednesday that Toigo has officially been named the club鈥檚 assistant general manager.
鈥淧eter has worked in the capacity of assistant general manager since I arrived last year,鈥 said Glen Hanlon, the G-Men鈥檚 general manager.
鈥淚 believe that now is a good time to formally announce Peter鈥檚 expanded role, as we move forward. We feel good about the direction that the team is going in, and Peter has been a big part of that plan.鈥
After earning his bachelor鈥檚 degree in business administration from Gonzaga University, Toigo worked as operations coordinator for the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
He went on to join the Giants in 2008 as the club鈥檚 director of team services, and was named the club鈥檚 vice-president of operations in 2011 鈥 a role he will continue to serve in while also taking on the responsibilities of assistant general manager.
鈥淚鈥檝e been passionate about the Western Hockey League from a young age,鈥 Toigo said.
鈥淚鈥檝e also been privileged to observe and learn from some great hockey people over the last decade including Don Hay, Scott Bonner and Jason Ripplinger, and I鈥檝e spent lots of time working with Glen Hanlon this past season. I鈥檓 excited to continue working with Glen, and I鈥檓 optimistic about what the future will bring for the Vancouver Giants.鈥
