A man has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm in connection to a road rage incident in Surrey, police say. 

Surrey Mounties responded to a call about a road rage incident in which a man was reportedly threatened with a firearm. It happened in the 14800 block of Fraser Highway on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 8:11 p.m. 

After canvassing the area, police were not able to locate the suspect. 

Police gathered CCTV of the suspect and his vehicle.  

The Surrey RCMP South Community Response Unit (South CRU) with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMD IERT) arrested Dariusz Tonderys, 37, of Aldergrove Aug. 16 in the 27100-block of Fraser Highway, a police press release says.

"Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 27200-block of 33A Avenue in Aldergrove and the firearm used in the offence was seized," said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, media relations officer with Surrey RCMP. "The firearm was determined to be a replica firearm."

Tonderys has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and assault with a weapon, the release says. He was released with conditions on Aug. 17. These conditions include not possessing any weapons, including imitation firearms or weapons. 

This was a very volatile incident for the victim and anyone who witnessed it. Thankfully no one was physically injured, Sangha said. "If you have any information about this incident, please call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502."
