Kevin Gillies chosen as federal Liberal candidate for Abbotsford-South 91原创

Former reporter and current realtor believes Mark Carney is the right leader for Canada

Kevin Gillies has been named the Liberal Party of Canada candidate's in the Abbotsford-South 91原创 riding in the upcoming federal election.

Former Abbotsford Times journalist Kevin Gillies has been selected as the Liberal Party of Canada's candidate for the Abbotsford-South 91原创 riding.

The party made the announcement in a press release on Monday (March 31) morning.

Gillies has lived in the Fraser Valley since 1995 and has worked in a variety of fields: as a real estate agent, supporting homeless individuals in shelters and supported housing, supporting people with a variety of special needs, and as a journalist for different newspapers 鈥 Abbotsford/Mission, North Vancouver, White Rock and also as the Fraser Valley stringer for the Vancouver Sun.

鈥淎bbotsford-South 91原创 will be on the front lines of U.S. tariffs and Donald Trump鈥檚 trade war,鈥 Gillies stated. 鈥淢ark Carney is the best leader for Canada going forward, and I look forward to bringing this region鈥檚 concerns to him and Ottawa.鈥

Gillies said in the press release that Carney is educated, experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with economic issues. That experience is something that Gillies said his opponents lack.
 
鈥淚 am thrilled for this opportunity to talk to residents of Abbotsford and South 91原创 about this region鈥檚 concerns,鈥 he added. "Pierre Poilievre's constant 'Canada is Broken' rhetoric, his Trump-like campaign tactics, and his plans to cut services to seniors, veterans and Canadians are not the answer Canada needs."

Also announced as candidates for Abbotsford-South 91原创 are Mike de Jong (independent), Sukhman Gill (Conservatives), Dharmasena Yakandawela (NDP), and Melissa Snazell (Green Party).
