Candidate provided bio: Nathan was elected as a 91Ô­´´ Councillor in 2016. On council, he has been a tireless advocate for safe streets and parks, better transportation, and housing options for all.

• Who is your favourite superhero, and why? Cypher from X-Men due to his ability to understand all forms of communication and being able to translate anything.

There are 16 candidates running for six councillor seats with the City of 91Ô­´´. The following arequestions asked of each candidate hopeful. They were directed to provide a minimum of a Yes, No, or Don’t Know answer, and given an option to expand on one answer in print (to a maximum of 100 words per question). They could expand on all questions online, if they wished to do so. The following are their replies.

Answer: Douglas

2. How many years have you lived in 91Ô­´´?

Answer: 15 years

3. How many 91Ô­´´ City council meetings have you attended in the past year?

Answer: All meetings

4: Should the City be directly funding social housing to reduce homelessness?

Answer: No. Homelessness, affordable housing, and mental health are linked at the hip. 91Ô­´´ City council has been successful in securing a provincial action team that gets people off the streets, and into housing with supportive services. But there is still a lot more work to do. I will continue to advocate for more provincial funding and resources for 91Ô­´´.

5. Do you support elevated rail over light rapid transit from Surrey to 91Ô­´´?

Answer: Yes

6. Should the City’s industrial area be phased out in favour of residential and commercial development?

Answer: Yes. We could encourage more industrial/commercial mixed-use, with office and flex space above industrial space.

7. Would you vote to raise taxes to hire more police?

Answer: Yes.

8. Do you agree with the growth estimates for 91Ô­´´ City in its new Nexus of Community strategic plan?

Answer: Yes.

9. Should 91Ô­´´ have its own municipal police force, replacing the RCMP?

Answer: No.

10. Should the City fund an arts centre?

Answer: Yes. I will continue to support investment in positive activities, including initiatives such as a new performing arts centre, and other programming that encourages activities thru all seasons, including evenings. This is proven to drive out negative activities.

11. Does 91Ô­´´ City need an indoor swimming pool?

Answer: Yes.

12. Should 91Ô­´´ City lobby for its own urgent care centre?

Answer: Yes.

13. Do you think residential property taxes are too high?

Answer: No. They are fair for the services provided.

Answer: No.
