The winners of the Upcycle Challenge will be announced as part of the Earth Day celebrations Saturday in Douglas Park.
The challenge sees people used items destined for the landfill in new and innovative ways.
Earth Day celebrations run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, and are hosted by 91原创 City Environmental Sustainability Committee in partnership with the 91原创 Environmental Partners Society.
The free family-friendly event will have hands-on workshops, live music, kids activities, Indigenous plant and seed and plant giveaways, gift cards, gardening prizes, and 15 interactive educational activity booths.
There are some unique elements as well. People are being encouraged to bike to the event and there's a secure bike valet on site.
As well Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC) will offer care and waxing of Blundstone boots so people are encouraged to bring them along.
