Join the for a free evening of music and art on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Featuring musician Ciara Kuurne, the evening is part of the gallery鈥檚 鈥淔irst Thursday鈥� events, where on the first Thursday of each month they host a variety of visual aritsts, writers, poets and musicians from the local community.

Kuurne is described as having low register vocals with a dash of rasp, and a sound that is acoustic, crunchy and muddy, with lose tones of rock, folk and pop.

Also featured at this month鈥檚 event are many of the artists from the Open Studio exhibit, running Sept. 20 to Oct. 8. The Open Studio program was created to provide a nurturing environment for emerging artists.

In conjunction with the Fort Gallery鈥檚 event, neighbouring business RE/MAX Little Oak Realty is holding a free art, wine and cheese night on Oct. 5 from 4 to 6 p.m.

This month, their office is displaying pieces by local artist Ray Ophoff. Art enthusiasts are invited to attend both events with time for a quick dinner in between.
