The "Curl Power" documentary tells the story of five Maple Ridge curlers as they attempt to win a Canadian Junior Curling Championship title.

Some Maple Ridge faces will make an appearance at this year's Vancouver International Film Festival, with one of the films documenting the adventures of five local girls as they make a name for themselves in the curling community.

The curling squad – known as the 4KGirl$ – consists of Brooklyn Aleksic, Hannah Smeed, Savannah Miley, Amy Wheatcroft, and Ashley Dezura.

Together, they curl out of the Golden Ears Winter Club in Maple Ridge, with their teamwork on full display in the "Curl Power" documentary.

Directed by Josephine Anderson, this film looks at the lives of the girls both on and off the ice as they continue their quest to make it to the Canadian Junior Curling Championships.

Creating this film took more than four years, explained Anderson, with a huge amount of trust shared between her and the 4KGirl$ members in order to bring this intimate look into their lives onto the big screen.

The documentary has already been shown at a number of film festivals across Canada, but is making its B.C. debut at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

The first of the VIFF showings is on Oct. 3 at SFU Woodwards (149 West Hastings St., Vancouver) at 6 p.m., and will feature a Q&A session with Anderson, Aleksic, Dezura, Miley, and producer Mike Johnston.

There will be a second showing on Saturday, Oct. 5, also at SFU Woodwards at 3:45 p.m. All of the same people will be returning for a Q&A again, and will be joined this time by Smeed.

Tickets to the VIFF screenings of Curl Power can be purchased at .
