It鈥檚 a story of greed and despair, of friendship, duty and love.
A young orphan and his mates are shipped from England to a far off-island. On the voyage, they meet the precocious Molly, a Starcatcher-in-Training, who tells them that a certain trunk on board carries a magical cargo that must not fall in to the wrong hands. When their ship is attacked by the fearsome pirate, Black Stache, a thrilling adventure ensues where unwilling comrades unite and unlikely heroes emerge.
Peter and the Starcatcher, a Tony Award-winning play, is being presented by Gallery 7 Theatre Nov. 10-18.
Directing the cast of 18 actors who will play over 100 characters is John Trottier. Holding a BA, BEd and a graduate diploma in Arts Education, Trottier has numerous stage, film and TV acting credits and has directed and taught theatre at Trinity Western University and Kwantlen Polytechnic University. This show will mark Trottier鈥檚 fifth directing project for Gallery 7 Theatre.
鈥�Peter and the Starcatcher is truly a unique play and a departure from traditional storytelling,鈥� Trottier said. 鈥淲hat makes it unique is that everyone will realize they have a bit of Peter Pan in them and always had. They just needed a little reminder to bring that to the surface.鈥�
The production will feature the acting talents of performers from through-out the Fraser Valley. Taking on the role of Peter is newcomer, Miles Merry, while Molly, the precocious young adventurer, is being played by Emily Smith. Rounding out the cast are 91原创 actor Ahnika Barber, Will Davis, Rebecca Dougan, Indie Garrett, Jim Harrison, Ellis Hull, Jonas Janz, Glen Kask, Rebecca Laurenti, Cameron McKerchar, Evan Rachwalski, Raelyn Schatz, Elizabeth Seaman, Chris Sherwood, Brennah Toews and Amelia Trottier.
A highly talented team of designers have been recruited to help realize Trottier鈥檚 creative vision for the show: set design is by UFV theatre student, Matthew Piton, costume design is by Jina Chatterton, lighting design is by Calvin Baker, props design is by Dianna Lewis, and stage management is by 91原创 talent Brittany Suderman. Musical direction is provided by Tanya Trottier and choreography is by Tessa Trach, who co-choreographed last season鈥檚 hit production of Disney鈥檚 Beauty and the Beast.

Peter and the Starcatcher runs for two weekends, Nov. 10 and 11 and Nov. 15 鈥� 18 at 7:30 p.m. Matinees will be held Nov. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m.
