The 91原创 Arts Council Outdoor Arts Fair is back for a second year.
The fair Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4 takes place in Douglas Park and each day has different offerings.
"We are thrilled to bring together families and art enthusiasts for an arts-filled weekend," said arts council event coordinator Deepika Pandian. "This festival celebrates creativity and community engagement, providing a vibrant platform for artistic expression."
Saturday is more family-focused while Sunday's highlight is the display by more than 17 artists.
Events Saturday go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature a day of kids' activities and workshops.
Face painting will be done by well-known painter and art teacher Gabrielle Strauss.
The Fraser Valley Regional Library City branch will host crafts. There are also workshops organized by the arts council.
Classes and workshops are by donation, and require advance registration (go through the arts council website).
鈥� Kite as a Canvas: The Saturday workshop is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and intended for ages five to nine. Kids will explore different painting techniques and learn how to transform kites into unique works of art.
鈥� Backpack as a Canvas. This workshop for ages 10 to 15 takes place from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Kids will learn to transform backpacks into vibrant canvases using fun painting techniques. Guided by artist 91原创 Arts Council instructor Kue Qaqtis, they'll create their own masterpiece. They can then use the skills to decorate fabric items at home.
The organizers note that the kites and backpacks may vary or be substituted with another appropriate item due to supply availability.
Saturday's fun includes a food truck, The Banana Bike, which overs frozen chocolate covered bananas.
The Sunday program runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This day-long Fine Arts Fair will showcase local and regional artists in Douglas Park where people can view, shop, meet, and mingle with local artists from the 91原创s and beyond. There will also be live music.
Participating artists this year include Elayne Preston, Garima Wilson, Jennifer Ross, Jenn, Johnny Tai, Julie Epp, Laura Lim, Linda Morris, Linda Poon, Maaike VanderMeer, Mackenzie Lawrence, Mann Kaur, Mary Ellen Bullock, Oxana Baydina, Peggie Tsang, Rudy Zator, Tara Devine, Toni King, as well as works by the 91原创 Camera Club.
