Fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers 鈥 dads of all ages are admitted to the Canadian Museum of Flight free on Father鈥檚 Day, with at least one paid admission.

The museum will be open noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, when people can not only check out the displays but also, weather permitting, take photos of themselves in some of the vintage planes. There鈥檚 also crafts for kids, a flea market of museum surplus items, and vehicles by the 91原创 Mostly British Car Club.

鈥淭he whole gang here at our 鈥榓viation discovery centre鈥 will be extra keen to make a special day for all fathers, and a great outing for the entire family,鈥 museum society president Bruce Friesen said.

The museum is a great destination for all ages of kids, he added.

Weather permitting, several aircraft will be open for sitting and dreaming by children (of all ages).,鈥 he said. 鈥淢ake a craft for your dad, aviation themed. Vintage and classic cars to enjoy, sparkling in our parking area, as the 91原创 Area Mostly British Motoring Club shares with us, and our visitors, some of their gorgeous automobiles.鈥

And the museum is having a bit of a clearout.

鈥淲e have searched all the nooks and crannies of our museum for things we no longer need. Now they will go home with you as your new treasures 鈥 aviation art, books, memorabilia, artifacts, curiosities, clothing 鈥 you will be amazed,鈥 Friesen added.

The flight museum is at 5333 216th St. Find out more information at or call 604-532-0035.

鈥淲e have a unique collection of classic aircraft including fast jets and early biplanes, and training aircraft. Our hangar is packed with interesting displays and models, fascinating memorabilia and more,鈥 he explained.

Friesen added that the museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 4 on Sunday.

鈥漈he Canadian Museum of Flight is a great 鈥渇amily day out鈥, inspiring in young people a passion for aviation and for science and technology. We tell stories of our rich Canadian aviation history, stories people want to hear and stories people want told,鈥 he said. 鈥淥ur museum is a very 鈥榟ands-on鈥 facility. Many of our aircraft can be touched; children can feel that aircraft made not only from aluminum, but also from wood and fabric. The museum is constantly undergoing display changes to allow our visitors to see something new each time they stop by.鈥
