Grammy Award winning gospel group comes to Cloverdale

The Blackwood Brothers quartet are retuning to the Lower Mainland on May 6 to perform in the 2017 Spring Gospel Music Festival.

Founded in 1934 by Roy Blackwood, brothers Doyle and James, and son R.W., the Blackwood Brothers continue to perform around the world under the direction of family member Billy Blackwood.

They have produced over 200 albums, won eight Grammy Awards and six Dove Awards, and were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1998.

Joining the quartet will be special guests Duayne and Garth Kent, Mark Donnelly, Class Brass & Company, Father’s Daughters, Lorne Clarke, Christine Schafrick and more.

The event is organized by 91Ô­´´â€™s Jim Thirsk of Singin’ Gospel Music Productions.

Tickets are $20 and are available online at or in person at two 91Ô­´´ locations: Christian Life Assembly, 21277 56 Ave., and Tom Lee Music, #18 19638 Fraser Hwy.

Partial proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Surrey Food Bank, which helps over 14,000 people each month in Surrey and North Delta.

The Cloverdale Baptist Church is located at 18685 64 Ave. in Surrey.
